Wimmera Lutheran College Update
Strategic Plan Update
Last week, Phil McCredden from Ecclesia Leadership conducted focus groups with the following key stakeholder groups:
- WLC Staff
- WLC Parents and Friends
- WLC Students
Across 2 days, Phil travelled between campuses, meeting with these key groups to hold discussions on the future of Wimmera Lutheran College. These discussions provided valuable insight into key considerations for the steering committee to ponder as planning for the future continues. Phil was impressed with the passion, dedication and pride that the different groups held for their respective school communities, and enjoyed the opportunity to find out more about the three campuses that make up Wimmera Lutheran College. The information collated from these focus groups, along with the Shared Futures survey will now be collated and presented to the WLC Steering Committee at a workshop scheduled for Tuesday 25 November.
WLC Logo
Last week, the new Wimmera Lutheran College logo was unveiled to all members of the WLC community.

This logo was created by Mad Mouse Graphic Design who were given the following briefing by the Steering Committee:
• Modern and contemporary
• Features the Cross as a central element
• Is simple yet meaningful in design
• Represents “three becoming one,” while acknowledging the balance between unity and diversity
I believe the designers have done an exceptional job in meeting this brief. Their description of the final design is as follows:
“A bold, geometric shield that reflects unity, protection, and forward-thinking strength. The cross and three stripes symbolise faith and the merging of three campuses into one. Clean lines and a confident colour palette make this concept distinctly modern, dynamic, and enduring — ideal for a contemporary educational brand.”
The three chosen colours each have a connection to the original colours of our three campuses, working harmoniously together to represent our shared identity and collective future.
WLC Branding
With the logo now decided upon, attention will turn to key branding priorities including;
- Website development
- Campus Signage
- Bus signage
- Uniform logos
- Business cards, letterheads and other important documents
- Stationery
I personally cannot wait to see our unifying logo across all facets of our 3 amazing campuses.
WLC Uniform
The following steps will be followed as we now prepare to review the WLC uniform:
Step 1: Construct a survey
Step 2: Survey stakeholders
Step 3: Focus Groups utilised for 3 campuses
Step 4: Discussions with Focus Groups
Step 5: Executive Team to use collation of data to confirm uniform
Step 6: Uniform Policy Review
Step 7: Uniform implementation timeline confirmed and communicated to families
Step 8: Uniform Shop decision
This exciting work will begin over the coming weeks and will be another important step towards bringing unity and celebrating diversity across the 3 campuses of WLC.
Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) Independent Report
Wimmera Lutheran College is classified as an Independent School In Victoria, an independent school is a non-government school that operates autonomously, meaning it has its own governance and management structure, unlike government schools. These schools are diverse and are accountable to their governing body while operating within state and federal legislation for areas like curriculum and finance.
Recently, a new independent report commissioned by Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) revealed the significant economic and social contribution of Victoria’s Independent schools.
The report showed that the sector contributes $6.6 billion to the state economy each year, driven by direct employment, infrastructure investment, international student activity and community programs. Victoria’s Independent schools employ more than 26,000 full-time staff, three times the workforce of the entire AFL industry, and educate over 165,000 students, with enrolments growing at three times the rate of other sectors.
Independent schools also delivered substantial savings to the government, estimated at $3 billion annually, by educating students who would otherwise require places in government schools.
The report highlighted the sector’s essential role in supporting students, families, local communities and the broader economy, while also drawing attention to the financial pressures created by payroll tax and rising costs.
This report provided impartial, evidence-based insight into the scale and significance of Victoria’s Independent school sector.
