Wimmera Lutheran College Update
Strategic Plan Update
As a follow on to the Shared Futures Survey, parents and carers will have the opportunity to be a part of a Shared Futures Focus Group which will be facilitated by Phil McCredden from Ecclesia Leadership next week. Phil will be in the Wimmera on Thursday and Friday with the WLC community having the opportunity to contribute their thoughts and ideas at the following times:
Thursday 6/11
- 12:45-1:30 - WLC School Officers Focus Group
- 3:45-4:45pm - WLC Horsham Staff Focus Group
- 6:30-7:30pm - WLC Horsham Parent Focus Group
Friday 7/11
- 8:00am - 8:45am - WLC Dimboola Staff Focus Group
- 9:00-10:00am - WLC Dimboola Parent Focus Group
- 2:30-3:30pm - WLC Nhill Parent Focus Group
- 3:40-4:40pm - WLC Nhill Staff Focus Group
These focus groups will deepen the understanding of how people have experienced the amalgamation progress and raise discussion on possibilities for the future. Some of the key questions that will be addressed include:
- What kinds of connections or shared experiences would help us feel more “one school”?
- What are the biggest opportunities and challenges you see ahead?
- Where could collaboration between campuses make a difference?
- What do you hope will be true of our community five years from now?
- If you could share one message with the leadership team about the future, what would it be?
- How do we ensure learning prepares students for their future?
- How have you experienced the amalgamation so far - what’s worked well, and what’s been challenging?
- What makes you most proud to be part of Wimmera Lutheran College?
Parents and carers intending to attend are asked to complete the relevant registration link that has been sent out via the Hub or other communication channel. If you cannot locate this link, please contact Naomi Busbridge on ea@wlc.vic.edu.au
WLC Logo and School Colours
The WLC Logo and College Colours have been finalised after a consultative process.
The logo and colours are a strong representation of the 3 campuses coming together and will form a significant part of the amalgamation story. I anticipate that the logo and colours will be shared with the WLC community next week. Finalising the logo and colours will allow for important work to continue in regards to uniform, brand recognition and signage across the 3 campuses.
World Teacher’s Day
Friday 31 October is World Teacher’s Day, a day where we get to acknowledge and celebrate the amazing work that teacher’s do each and every day. It has been great to see the different ways the campuses of WLC have been celebrating this day; social media posts, gratitude gardens, thank you notes and gifts are just some ways in which we have been able to show our appreciation to the teachers of WLC. The teacher’s of WLC do an amazing job at not only teaching our students, but also caring for them as people, often putting their needs above their own. If you know of a teacher who has made a significant contribution to your life or your child’s life, please take the time to write them a card or send them an email, sharing your gratitude with them. It’s amazing what this acknowledgement and encouragement can do for our special teachers.

1 Peter 4:10
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
